Calmly Considered: Does Character Count? Does Virtue Matter?
On this episode of "Calmly Considered," Michael and Allan explore why it appears that American society has jettisoned the importance of character and virtue for leadership, particularly in the realm of politics. Does character really count? Does virtue really matter?
I so enjoy an intelligent conversation a I witnessed here between you two. Thank you for addressing some things that are very wrong in our society and also church. My take on the present situation in the country began for me in the late 1980's when it was brought to our attention that the church we support did not take a strong stance against abortion. From that point on it looks like the Republican party went down this path to eliminate abortion at all costs. On top of that, many people believe the Republican party is the party of God because somehow through the connection with Israel it will bring about the end times and of course we all look forward to that. It is skewed thinking in my opinion, but these two issues seem to be the driving force among many professing Christians I have talked with, especially in the Southern United States, where we lived for 32 years. Anyway, I truly appreciate you two tackling this issue in an intelligent and informed way. Thank you.
