Having reached the retirement years of our lives, and, due to physical limitations, I now have the inability to prepare and serve large family dinners. This became difficult for our daughter, but, even though she experienced a sense of loss, God did give back to us in that we each eat our own dinner but gather together for family time over dessert that she and I both prepare. This removed the tension for me and also for her as she made the adjustment. And also dealing with the holidays having experienced the death of our adult son, God has also given back to us in that the family times are more peaceful and retrospective and not nearly as tiring. We remember him and the emotional gifts he gave us which are so much more important than anything he could have purchased.
