I do not seek to understand that I may believe, but I believe in order to understand. For this also I believe, –that unless I believed, I should not understand.-- St. Anselm of Canterbury (1033-1109)

Sunday Afternoon Poetry: “Unnoticed (2 Kings 6)”

by Lindsey Funtik, Coordinator of Volunteer Ministries, Ashland First United Methodist Church, Ashland, Ohio

___

The confidence of Elisha

helped him clearly

see

chariots of fire around him,

protecting,

guarding,

ready.

The confidence of Lindsey

only faintly

hopes

for horses ablaze

even as they paw the earth

all around her

burning it holy.
