I do not seek to understand that I may believe, but I believe in order to understand. For this also I believe, –that unless I believed, I should not understand.-- St. Anselm of Canterbury (1033-1109)

Christians Must Offer a Real Alternative to the Sterile Modern Moral and Ethical Discourse

Too much Christian debate and discussion look like nothing more than what either John Boehner or Nancy Pelosi might say. As long as Christians sound more like Democrats or Republicans than Christians and think that Christianity looks like their cherished political party, they will demonstrate their irrelevance as so many nonreligious folk already know. True discipleship, by necessity, will put Christians in irreconcilable tension with America's two political parties. For Christians who continue to believe that their views line up with either earthly political expression, the church of Jesus Christ will continue to look like nothing more than the lite versions of the donkey and the elephant.

Incarnation does not and can not look like an ass or a colossus with a trunk.
