Saturday at the Cinema: What If We Are Wrong About Diabetes?

I was diagnosed with diabetes in January, so I find this video interesting.

The video was interesting. His humility puts a beautiful face on him, (and the care that he gives, no doubt). I hope you are getting the care you need. There's much available. Susan

Hi Susan,

Yes, I am getting great care. My doctor is excellent. My numbers have come down and with diet and exercise, I intend to bring them down even more.

Allan, you probably don't know how much good you've done by posting this video. I was diagnosed with diabetes almost two years ago. I come from a family that has a genetic predisposition to insulin resistance going back at least four generations, based on family photographs and medical history. Since I was a child I have always been scorned and abused because I was fat. Now in my sixth decade, struggling to manage my disease with diet, exercise and medication, I discover through this video you posted that my condition and all the complexities around it have resulted from something that stemmed, at its true origin, from a bodily dysfunction that could have been treated better if that cause were only understood. All the personal shame and blame I have felt since my disease was diagnosed is starting to ebb after seeing this video. I can't thank you enough, because now I will approach my health care with a new purpose and perspective. Blessings to you.
