Leader: Jesus has gone to search for Adam and Eve, our first parents, as for lost sheep.
People: Greatly desiring to visit those who live in darkness and in the shadow of death, he has gone to free from sorrow Adam in his bonds and Eve, captive with him-- He who is both their God and the son of Eve.
All: "I am your God who for your sake have become your son... I order, O sleeper, to awake. I did not create you to be a prisoner in hell. Rise from the dead, for I am the life of the dead.

Well, I never saw any theology to the full day Jesus was physically dead, until now.
He rested on the holy sabbath.
I believe for humanity, just as He fulfilled the rest of Torah on behalf of us all.

In the icon above, what is it that Jesus is standing on top of? This comes up in a lot of iconography, and I'm not clear. Is it the doors of sheol/death?
