The Political Op-Ed of the Year

I don't think there is such a reward, but if there were, I would be nominating David Brooks for his op-ed published on Tuesday in The New York Times. In his editorial, "Dullest Campaign Ever," Brooks lists the following reasons this year's political campaign is so boring.

First, intellectual stagnation.

Second, lack of any hint of intellectual innovation.

Third, increased focus on the uninformed.

Fourth, lack of serious policy proposals.

Fifth, negative passion.

Sixth, no enactment strategy.

Seventh, ad budget myopia.

Eighth, technology is making campaigns dumber.

Finally, dishonesty numbs.

Brooks fills in the details of his list here.
