I do not seek to understand that I may believe, but I believe in order to understand. For this also I believe, –that unless I believed, I should not understand.-- St. Anselm of Canterbury (1033-1109)

Private vs. Public Faith?

My friend and colleague at Ashland Theological Seminary, John Byron, has posted this video below, which is a brief interview with Stanley Hauerwas. I love reading and listening to Stanley. He questions the categories and concepts everyone else unquestionably accepts as obviously true. In this video he not only questions the notion of private, but also of public. Moreover, he says that Christians should provide truthful speech, which also means they should insist on being told the truth-- something that we need to heed in this election season in which truth in both campaigns is unfortunately too rare.

In any case watch, listen, and respond by leaving a comment, if you desire.
