Supersizing the Last Supper

Is this another example of art imitating life?

In your opinion what is to be made of this?

I like a quote I read by a scientist on this--something to the effect of this isn't an important study. Much more to the point is portion size in super bowl commercials, etc. The question in studies like this is, "is the claim that increasingly obese artists have increased the size of the meal or that the public in viewing these paintings has become increasingly obese?"

Eric,

Good point... The Super Bowl commercials are likely much more of an indicator of something important going on. It's just that being an intellectual egghead in art history, I was fascinated by the topic.

The thing I found interesting in the study was reference to a depiction that included pork in the meal. I know that we believe Jesus called all food clean, but the last supper is an interesting place to make the point. I'd be interested in the artist sharing more about what they intended to convey by including pork.
