In all the classes I have taught, this may have been the most difficult parable of all. Everyone loved it in the abstract as long as it stayed abstract. When it got too close to home the decision was generally a condemnation of the lazy men who sat around all day when they could have been actively seeking work and some suspicion of God's undiscriminating judgment that looked a bit much like enabling them.
