A Weblog Dedicated to the Discussion of the Christian Faith and 21st Century Life
A Weblog Dedicated to the Discussion of the Christian Faith and 21st Century Life ___ I do not seek to understand that I may believe, but I believe in order to understand. For this also I believe, –that unless I believed, I should not understand.-- St. Anselm of Canterbury (1033-1109)
I'm intrigued by this post because I find myself strongly agreeing and strongly disagreeing at the same time.
I agree very much that funerals are not the time to teach about death. He is right. We need to learn how to die as long as we are still living. It's something to prepare for. Not just so we are ready when it happens, but because it makes us stronger in life. I mean, if we learn to take death in all its shades (disappointment, disillusion, setbacks etc) and let God bring new life out of it, then we are ahead of the game.
I disagree with his minimalist view of Heaven. Not that he isn't right about NT's way of using heaven, but he underestimates the power of the hope of heaven.

I never get tired of reading him and hearing from him.
