Off and Running

The East Ohio Annual Conference begins this morning at Lakeside, Ohio. I'll be blogging from my Lakeside "office" at Coffee & Cream.

This is my first 'trip' to Methodist blog. Every decade I do a ranking of religions. Part serious and part fun. I did not realize how reactionary these Methodist blogs are. I was preparing to rank Methodism 'high' but the blogs here are truly unbelievable. Kind of like they were put out by some crazy right wing group. The Methodist I personally know are nothing like those I see here. I do not mean to be rude, but I AM shocked. I thought only the Catholics and Southern Baptist were vying to be the religious arem of the Republican Party. You Methodist are obviously in the running. Mark

Actually, if you had even read any of the Methoblogs in any serious fashion, you would discover that we are quite a diverse lot-- some conservative, others liberal, and others all along the scale-- theologically and politically.

Frankly, the fact that you think we are the religious arm of the Republican Party suggests a questionable ability to comprehend what is being read.

Your post has been deleted for lack of civility. You may make your point and you may make it forcefully, but the insults and name calling will not be tolerated on this blog.

You mean, you don't like to be exposed. BTW, did you notice your first response to me. Real Christian charity, you say. Mark

My response was appropriate. You lumped all Methobloggers as right wingers. I know may of these folks... they are hardly that. This simply suggests to me that you are not reading carefully.

BTW... some of these Methobloggers and I may not agree on some things, but I have no doubt that they are faithful disciples. I do not judge them on whether or not they agree with me on politics, etc. I know that God is using them even though I may spar with them on certain issues.

It is too bad you do not have the same openness on the matter.

I guess they are "faithful disciples"----of Limbaugh,Sanford, Palin, Hannity---I could go on. But at your suggestion I'll check further. If you check my blog you will see I am well disposed to Methodism. Mark

I think we have both said enough. Thanks for the conversation.
