Why not? She is no doubt more intelligent and competent than a good many sitting senators. The people of NY will have an opportunity to judge for themselves how she performs. What's the alternative? Some Albany hack? Perhaps the hotheaded Mr. Cuomo? But if the governor has any sense of humor at all, he'll appoint Al Sharpton.

Good points. She is obviously an accomplished person, and as I have said in previous posts, experience is not all that significant when it comes to governing.

Nevertheless, my concern is over what is the increasing plutacracy of the Senate. Birth status and social standing should have nothing to do with who sits in the Senate.

Having said that, there would be much worse things than a Senator Kennedy from New York.

BTW: I love the Al Sharpton comment. Personally, I love Al, but he gives us no end of entertainment!
