A Weblog Dedicated to the Discussion of the Christian Faith and 21st Century Life ___ I do not seek to understand that I may believe, but I believe in order to understand. For this also I believe, –that unless I believed, I should not understand.-- St. Anselm of Canterbury (1033-1109)
As I have just written on my blog, @As one part of the family is in distress, we bleed with them and close ranks to hold them upto the father who cares for each and every one.' O Lord, hear our prayer.
Heavenly Father, Please be with the people who are in the path of Hurricane Gustav. Protect them as the storm attacks the coast. Comfort them in the aftermath in their loss as they deal with the damage. Allow them to build each other up so that they know the power of your love. Be with the relief workers and aid agencies as they help with the victims. Give them the strength, patience, and love that they will need in the coming days and weeks. I ask these things in the name of your son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Though I was not on the coast or in New Orleans, I thought that we would get hit much harder than we did in Vicksburg, MS. I saw how Katrina did a job on her eastern boundry as she came through and I saw us as being the same. Luckily, after checking on all my parishioners, all that was lost was very temporary power outage. I myself didn't even lose that. I thank all who prayed.

Thank you so much. It's not looking very good for New Orleans right now, and there's still so much damage from Katrina that hasn't been fixed.
Your prayers and those of all your readers are appreciated.

Marty:
I hope you are on safe ground.
I led a mission team from our church to NO a year ago last June. We spent the week gutting houses.
Both my daughters (who were n the team) have already said to me that we should lead another group to continue relief.
We will if necessary.
Lord God, guard your people in the midst of such power, reminding us that your power is supreme. Amen.
Thanks, Alan. We're safe; we'll probably get winds of 60 mph or so ... scary, but not as damaging as you might think.
We're just so tired of this, though. I went through three major storms in the first 45 years of my life; in the last three that number has doubled.
Father, thank you for my community and my church family who are helping us through this -- both the ones close by and the ones far away. Amen.
