KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A bad day got even worse for a stranded motorist when the purported Good Samaritan who helped dislodge the man's car attacked him and stole the vehicle, police said. The 73-year-old motorist got lost overnight Thursday after leaving the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.
After the man crossed the state line into Missouri, his 1996 Buick Park Avenue became stuck in the snow. The suspect approached and offered to help. But once the car was free, the suspect attacked the driver with a box cutter and demanded, "Give me your car," according to a police report.
The suspect fled with the car and $30.
The motorist was taken to a hospital with lacerations to the hands, arms and a possible hip fracture, said Capt. Rich Lockhart, a police spokesman.
No one had been arrested yet, he said.
