Pope Benedict XVI, like his predecessor before him, continues to push the Catholic Church in a counter-cultural direction. Good for him!We mainline Protestants, who have fallen in love with the spirit of the age, need to pay attention and learn from someone who knows what being counter-cultural is all about and how Christians can be a distinctive witness in the world.

I truly have hope for mainline Protestantism, but we must throw off our idolatrous love affair with secularism
This is a danger in evangelism or trying to be 'relevant' -- that we lose the radical edge of Gospel.
