Pray for the Peace of Israel

"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: 'May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels'" (Psalm 122:6-7).

I think it is good for us to bring some carryover of that verse to present day Israel and Jerusalem. Maybe more than I realize.

I struggle with Israel because I see present "Israel" as all Jews and Gentiles who place their faith in Jesus as Messiah. I see ethnic Israel as ethnic Israel, not the Israel of God (Galatians). But I don't believe God is finished with them. But neither is he finished with any of the peoples of the earth. They someday will all be "the people of God".

I say this only to say where I stand. But it does stir me to honestly pray for the peace of present day Jerusalem, from this verse. And to think anew on this. Something I wouldn't have done, otherwise. Thanks, Allan.
