Ten Things Pastors Should Not Assume

1. Pastors should not assume that their parishioners always know what they are talking about.

2. Pastors should not assume that they always know what their parishioners are talking about.

3. Pastors should not assume that they always know what their parishioners are thinking.

4. Pastors should not assume that their parishioners always know what they are thinking.

5. Pastors should not assume that it is necessary to respond to every little criticism. Save it for the big ones.

6. Pastors should not assume that public confession is always good for the soul. Some confessions are better left publicly unsaid.

7. Pastors should not assume that just because they have not heard about the problem, it does not exist.

8. Pastors should not assume that the comment "nice sermon" means it was a good sermon.

9. Pastors should not assume that what is important to them should be important to their congregations.

10. Pastors should not assume that they are above the big temptations and sins.
