I do not seek to understand that I may believe, but I believe in order to understand. For this also I believe, –that unless I believed, I should not understand.-- St. Anselm of Canterbury (1033-1109)

A Poem

The following was written (and printed with permission) by a young woman in our church who is wise beyond her years. In the midst of great tragedy in her life, her faith continues to be an inspiration.

This Day
Grace woke me up this morning,
Blessed with yet another day
I carry this sorrow within my heart
But I’ll walk with a smile on my face
I know that nothing taken away from me
Could overshadow what I’ve received
Lord, get me through another day
Wrap Your arms around me…
I’m dancing to two different songs
One of letting my pain go
One of holding on,
And though I know You’re walking beside me
Sometimes I feel so alone
Lord help me to realize
That this day is not my own…
The nights are the hardest
I think of how they’ve moved on
‘Cause though the walls may be patched for them,
But a part of me is gone
And all they see is the shining sun
When I’m walking in the rain
Lord, help me to focus on You
Instead of this pain…
I’m dancing to two different songs
One of letting my pain go
One of holding on,
And I know You’re walking beside me
I know I’ll never be alone
Lord help me to remember
That this day is not my own…
Grace woke me up this morning
Blessed with another day…

That's a beautiful poem.

And I'm glad to hear the trip went very well. =)
