As I watched the newscasts yesterday concerning the health of Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, it was reported that there were some Palestinian adults passing out candy to their children in order to celebrate the fact that he had a mild stroke. I am sure that many Palestinians are not so callouse, but such behavior reveals the deep anger and division that have been present in that part of the world for so long, one wonders if we will ever see a resolution to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict that is so foundational to the entire situation in the Middle East; many of us wonder if Jerusalem will ever truly be the "City of Peace."
In this Season of Peace, let us pray for peace: pray for the peace of Jerusalem, pray for peace in the Middle East, and for peace around this world; and let us resolve to live our lives in profound commitment and sacrifice, that we might bring God's peaceable kingdom to those around us.
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May those who love you be secure" (Psalm 122:6).
